Describe:

The LM5009 step-down switching regulator has all the features needed to implement a low-cost and high-efficiency step-down regulator. The device is capable of driving 150mA of load current from a 9.5V to 95V input source. The switching frequency can exceed 600kHz, depending on the input and output voltages. The output voltage can be set from 2.5V to 85V. This high voltage regulator contains an N-channel buck switch and an internal startup regulator. The device is easy to implement and is available in 8-lead VSSOP and thermally enhanced 8-lead WSON packages. The regulator is based on a control scheme with on-time inversely proportional to VIN. With this feature, the device's operating frequency remains relatively constant as the load and input voltage vary. The control scheme does not require any loop compensation and enables ultra-fast transient response. The device implements a smart current limit with forced off time inversely proportional to VOUT. This scheme ensures short-circuit control while providing less foldback. Additional features include thermal shutdown, VCC undervoltage lockout, gate drive undervoltage lockout and maximum duty cycle limiter.
