The ADUM2251ARWZ is a hot-swap digital isolator with a non-latching, bidirectional communication channel, compatible with I2C interface. This eliminates the need to split the I2C signal into separate transmit and receive signals for use with separate optocouplers.

The ADUM2251ARWZ provides two bidirectional channels supporting a fully isolated I2C interface. The ADuM2251 provides a bidirectional channel and a unidirectional channel for applications that do not require a bidirectional clock.

The ADUM2251ARWZ contains hot-swap circuitry to prevent data glitches on the active bus when an unpowered card is inserted.

These isolators are based on iCoupler® Chip Scale Transformer technology from Analog Devices, Inc. iCoupler is an isolation technology that offers performance, size, power, and functional advantages over magnetic and optocouplers. The ADUM2251ARWZ integrates an iCoupler channel with semiconductor circuitry for a complete isolated I2C interface in a small form factor package.
