The TCA9545APWR is a quad bidirectional transfer switch controlled via the I2C bus. Serial Clock/Serial Data (SCL/SDA) upstream pairs are spread across four downstream pairs, or lanes. Depending on the contents of the programmable control registers, any single SCn/SDn channel or combination of channels can be selected. Four interrupt inputs (INT3-INT0) are provided, one for each downstream pair. One interrupt (INT) output can be used as an AND (AND) operation of four interrupt inputs.

The TCA9545APWR has an active low (RESET) input that allows the TCA9545A to recover when one of the downstream I2C buses is in the low state for an extended period of time. Pulling RESET low resets the I2C state machine and deselects all channels, the same function as the internal power-on reset function.

The TCA9545APWR has a pass gate built into the switch so that the VCC terminal can be used to limit the maximum high voltage delivered by the TCA9545A. This allows different bus voltages to be used on each pair so that 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V parts can communicate with 5V parts without any additional protection. For each channel, external pull-up resistors pull up the bus voltage to the desired voltage level. All I/O pins are 5.5V tolerant.
