The ADUM7442ARQZ are 4-channel digital isolators utilizing Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology. Combining high-speed CMOS with monolithic air-core transformer technology, these isolation devices provide outstanding performance characteristics that outperform optocoupler devices and other integrated couplers.

The ADUM7442ARQZ family of quad 1kV digital isolation devices is available in a small 16-lead QSOP package. Compared to most quad isolators available in a 16-lead SOIC wide-body package, the ADuM7440/ADuM7441/ADuM7442 save almost 70 percent of board space while still being able to withstand high isolation voltages and comply with regulatory requirements such as UL and CSA standards (pending). In addition to saving space, the ADuM7440/ADuM7441/ADuM7442 are less expensive than 2.5kV or 5kV isolators and are suitable for applications requiring only basic isolation.

The ADUM7442ARQZ family, like many of ADI's isolator products, consumes very little power, consuming one-tenth to one-sixth the power of comparable isolators at data rates up to 25 Mbps. In addition to low power consumption, all versions of the ADuM7440/ADuM7441/ADuM7442 have very low pulse width distortion (less than 5 ns for C grade). In addition, each model offers an input glitch filter to prevent extraneous noise interference.

The ADUM7442ARQZ isolator provides four independent isolation channels supporting multiple channel configurations and two data rates (see ordering guide) up to 25 Mbps. All models operate from a 3.0 V to 5.5 V supply voltage, are compatible with low-voltage systems, and are capable of voltage translation across the isolation barrier. In addition, all models default to a logic high state in the absence of input power.
