Product Description:

The ADBMS1818 is a multi-cell battery stack monitor that can measure up to 18 battery cells connected in series with a total measurement error of less than 3.0 mV. The ADBMS1818 has a battery measurement range of 0 V to 5 V, suitable for most battery chemistry applications. All 18 cells can be measured in 290 μs, with a lower data acquisition rate selected for noise reduction.

Multiple ADBMS1818 devices can be connected in series to simultaneously monitor very long high voltage battery strings. Each ADBMS1818 has an isoSPI™ interface for high-speed communication over long distances without RF interference. Multiple devices are connected in a daisy chain with a host processor for all devices. The daisy chain is bi-directional, ensuring communication integrity even if the communication path fails.

The battery stack can power the ADBMS1818 directly, or it can be powered by an isolated power supply. The ADBMS1818 features passive balancing and individual PWM duty cycle control for each cell. Other features include an on-board 5 V regulator, nine general-purpose I/O lines, and sleep mode, which reduces power consumption to 6 μA.
