Product Description:

The TMS320LF2406APZA device is a new member of the TMS320C24x™; a generation of digital signal processor (DSP) controllers, part of the TMS320C2000™; fixed-point DSP platform. 240xA devices provide enhanced TMS320™; C2xx core CPU DSP architecture design with low cost, low power consumption, high performance processing capabilities. A variety of advanced peripherals optimized for digital motor and motion control applications are integrated to provide a true single-chip DSP controller. Also code-compatible with existing C24x™; DSP controller devices, the 240xA offers higher processing performance (40 MIPS) and higher levels of peripheral integration. The TMS320LF2406APZA generation offers a range of memory sizes and different peripherals to meet specific price/performance points required by various applications. Flash devices up to 32K words provide a cost-effective reprogrammable solution for volume production. The 240xA devices offer a password-based "code security" feature that can be used to prevent unauthorized copying of proprietary code stored in on-chip Flash/ROM. Note that flash-based devices contain a 256-word boot ROM to facilitate in-circuit programming. The 240xA family also includes ROM devices, which are fully pin-compatible with the corresponding flash memory.

TMS320LF2406APZA All 240xA devices provide at least one event manager module optimized for digital motor control and power conversion applications. Features of this module include center- and/or edge-aligned PWM generation, programmable dead-band to prevent shoot-through faults, and synchronous analog-to-digital conversion. Devices with dual event managers enable multi-motor and/or converter control from a single 240xA DSP controller. Some EV pins are equipped with an "input qualifier" circuit that minimizes inadvertent pin toggling caused by glitches.

The TMS320LF2406APZA high-performance 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) has a minimum conversion time of 375 ns and provides up to 16 analog input channels. The ADC's auto-sequencing feature allows up to 16 conversions in a single conversion session without any CPU overhead.

A Serial Communication Interface (SCI) is integrated on all devices to provide asynchronous communication with other devices in the system. For systems requiring an additional communication interface, the 2407A, 2406A, 2404A, and 2403A offer a 16-bit synchronous serial peripheral interface (SPI). The 2407A, 2406A, and 2403A provide a 2.0B compliant Controller Area Network (CAN) communication module. For maximum device flexibility, the function pins can also be configured as general-purpose input/output (GPIO).

To simplify development time, JTAG-compatible scan-based emulation is integrated into all devices. This provides the non-intrusive real-time capabilities needed to debug digital control systems. A complete set of code generation tools, from C compilers to the industry-standard Code Composer Studio™; debuggers support this family. Numerous third-party developers provide not only device-level development tools, but also system-level design and development support.
