Product Description:

The BQ25071QWDQCRQ1 is a highly integrated LiFePO4 linear battery charger targeting space-constrained automotive applications. The device is powered from a USB port or wall adapter and provides up to 1A charging current for a single-cell LiFePO4 battery. The 30V nominal input voltage supports unregulated low-cost adapters.

The BQ25071QWDQCRQ1 has a power output that can power the system while charging the battery. Input current is either programmable from 100mA to 1A via the ISET input or configured in USB500 mode. Additionally, a 4.9-V ±10% 50-mA LDO is integrated in the IC to power low-power external circuits.

The BQ25071QWDQCRQ1 LiFePO4 charging algorithm eliminates the current taper process that is common under constant voltage mode control used in Li-ion battery charging cycles, which can significantly reduce the charging time. In this case, the battery will charge rapidly to the overcharge voltage and then drop to the lower float voltage threshold. The charger integrates a power stage with charge current and voltage sensing for high levels of accuracy in the current and voltage regulation loops. An internal control loop monitors the IC junction temperature throughout the charge cycle and reduces charge current if the temperature exceeds an internal temperature threshold.
