Product Description:

The ADM3251EARWZ is a high speed, 2.5 kV fully isolated, single-channel RS-232/V.28 transceiver that operates from a single 5 V supply. Because the RIN and TOUT pins provide high-voltage ESD protection, the device is ideal for operating in harsh electrical environments, or where RS-232 cables are frequently plugged and unplugged.

The ADM3251EARWZ eliminates the need for a separate isolated dc-dc converter. Analog Devices' chip-scale transformer iCoupler® technology can be used for both isolated logic signals and integrated DC-DC converters, so the device can provide a total isolation solution.

The ADM3251EARWZ complies with the EIA-232E specification and supports data rates up to 460 kbps.

The ADM3251EARWZ voltage doubler/inverter uses four external 0.1 μF charge pump capacitors, which allows the device to operate from a single 5 V supply.

The ADM3251E is available in a 20-lead, wide-body SOIC package and is specified over the −40°C to +85°C temperature range.
