Product Description:

TPS56C230RJER is a high-efficiency synchronous buck converter with integrated FETs. System designers can use this device for a variety of applications because it has low standby current and requires fewer external components.

TPS56C230RJER employs D-CAP3 control, which requires only internal compensation for fast transient response and excellent line and load regulation. The device features a dedicated circuit that supports low equivalent series resistance (ESR) output capacitors such as dedicated polymer capacitors and ultra-low ESR ceramic capacitors.

TPS56C230RJER Eco-mode or FCCM mode can be set using the MODE pin of the TPS56C230 for light load operation. Eco-mode maintains high efficiency during light load operation, and FCCM mode operation maintains low output ripple at light load. This device supports both internal and external soft-start time options. It has an internal fixed soft-start time of 1.2ms, but if the application requires a longer soft-start time, an external SS pin can be used, which can be achieved by connecting an external capacitor.

TPS56C230RJER integrates a power good status indicator with output discharge capability. It provides comprehensive protection including OVP, UVP, OCP, OTP and UVLO. The device is available in a 20-lead 3.0mm × 3.0mm HotRod package and is rated for a junction temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
