The real-time control subsystem is based on TI's 32-bit C28x DSP core, which provides 120 MHz of signal processing performance for floating-point or fixed-point code running from on-chip flash or SRAM. The performance of the C28x CPU is further enhanced by a Floating Point Unit (FPU), a Trigonometric Function Accelerator (TMU), and a VCRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) extension instruction set, which accelerates key common algorithms for real-time control systems.

The CLA is able to offload a large number of common tasks from the main C28x CPU. The CLA is a standalone 32-bit floating-point math accelerator that executes in parallel with the CPU. In addition, the CLA comes with its own dedicated memory resources, which provide direct access to key peripherals required in a typical control system. ANSI C subset support is standard, as are key features such as hardware breakpoints and hardware task switching.
