The L-ASC10-1SG48I (Analog Sense and Control-10 rail) is a hardware management (power, thermal and control plane management) expander designed for use with Platform Manager™ 2, MachXO2™, MachXO3 or ECP5™ FPGAs on board The hardware management control function is realized on the top. The L-ASC10 (ASC for short) enables seamless scaling control channels for supply voltage and current monitoring, temperature monitoring, timing and margining. ASC includes dedicated interfaces that support monitoring signal status and output switching using these centralized hardware management controller control signals. Up to 8 ASC devices can be used to implement a hardware management system.

Each analog sense channel of the L-ASC10-1SG48I is monitored by two independent programmable comparators to support high/low and in/out (window comparison) monitoring functions. The current sense channel features programmable gain amplifiers for short circuit events and fast fault detection (<1 μs response time).

The L-ASC10-1SG48I temperature sensing channel can be configured to work with different external transistor or diode configurations. Provides nine general-purpose 5 V tolerant open-drain digital input/output pins that can be used in systems to control DC-DC converters, low-dropout regulators (LDOs), and optocouplers, as well as for monitoring and general-purpose logic interface functions . Four high-voltage charge pump outputs (HVOUT1-HVOUT4) can be configured as high-voltage MOSFET drivers to control high-side MOSFET switching. These HVOUT outputs can also be programmed as static output signals or as switching outputs (to support external charge pump implementations) at a dedicated duty cycle and frequency.

The L-ASC10-1SG48I ASC device contains four TRIM outputs for controlling the output voltage of the DC-DC converter. Each power supply output voltage can typically be kept within 0.5% tolerance under various load conditions using a digital closed-loop control mode.
