Product Description:

The TPS92638QPWPRQ1 is an eight-channel linear LED driver with PWM dimming control. Its design is ideal for driving multiple LED strings to the mid-range power range.

The TPS92638QPWPRQ1 device can drive up to eight light strings with one to three LEDs on each string, with a total current of up to 70mA per channel. Multiple outputs can be paralleled to provide up to 560mA drive current.

TPS92638QPWPRQ1 In multi-string applications, the advantage of this device is that it supports common-cathode connection of LED strings. Therefore, for systems with low-side current sensing, only one return wire is required instead of one for each LED string.

TPS92638QPWPRQ1 This device has the ability to switch the LED current between high current and low current, suitable for parking light and tail light applications. These two LED current levels can be set for each output through two reference resistors.

TPS92638QPWPRQ1 This device includes a temperature monitor that reduces the LED drive current when the integrated circuit (IC) junction temperature exceeds a temperature threshold. The temperature threshold is programmable with an external resistor. Connecting the TEMP pin to ground plane disables the thermal current monitoring function. Output of the junction temperature as an analog voltage can be selected in the factory program.
