On February 17, 2023, Infineon Technologies started construction of its new semiconductor factory for analog/mixed-signal technology and power semiconductors. The company plans to invest about 5 billion euros in the plant, which will begin production in 2026. This is the largest single investment in the company's history.

This investment by Infineon is an important contribution to the achievement of the target announced by the European Commission to reach 20% of global semiconductor production in the EU by 2030. Semiconductors for industrial and automotive applications produced at the Dresden site will help secure the value chains of key European industries in the future.

In addition, Infineon's investment strengthens the manufacturing base for semiconductors that drive decarbonization and digitalization. Analog/mixed-signal devices are used in power systems such as energy-efficient charging systems, small automotive motor control units, data centers, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The interplay of power semiconductors and analog/mixed-signal devices makes it possible to create particularly energy-efficient and intelligent system solutions.
