Coincidentally, a few days ago, at the 2022 Automotive Chip Technology Innovation and Application Forum, Zou Guangcai, deputy secretary-general of the China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance, said that the current domestic automotive chips are still in the early "Spring and Autumn" era, and the number of companies is growing rapidly. Chip products have only obtained preliminary vehicle-level certification. It is recommended that enterprises make full use of their product features and technical advantages to avoid falling into disorderly competition of low-end products. At the same time, the national standard for automotive chips is expected to be implemented, developed and applied in succession during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
Generally speaking, automotive-grade chips have high requirements for safety, reliability, and stability, and the technical barriers from design to tape-out are high. Moreover, traditional chips, automotive electronics, and complete vehicles have formed a relatively stable cooperation pattern. Short-term replacement The difficulty is relatively large. And new energy vehicles provide a new track for domestic automotive chips. From the perspective of the number of chips in the whole vehicle, traditional models need 850 to 1050 chips, and new energy models need 920 to 1180 chips.
In terms of classification, in a typical new energy vehicle, power, control, power supply, communication, drive and analog chips are used more, and the development of intelligent network connection will also increase the demand for computing, security, wireless communication, memory chips and sensors On the other hand, with the development of domain controllers, low-end MCUs will be integrated into SoCs, and some chips with single functions may also be integrated into SoCs or SBC chips.
According to the statistics of the alliance, there are currently about 110 to 130 domestic companies developing and producing automotive chips. Public propaganda shows that 50% of the companies have achieved mass production applications, and more than 70% of the companies supply no more than 10 types. In addition, more than 50 listed chip companies claim to have automotive-grade products or mass production applications.
